Let’s say you are taking a girl out to a very nice restaurant: You are both dressed nice, the ambiance is romantic, and there is something special about the evening. All the details have been taken care of as you sit down to dine; it is time to eat, drink and enjoy one another’s company. Of course you take care to be attentive to her to ensure this night goes perfectly. She notices the effort you’ve made and receives the attention with grace.
Now let’s say tonight you go out dancing. This time you’re alone, but wouldn’t mind meeting someone. You’re a bit unsure about how to dance but want to give it a try—the free lessons start at 9. Many people are there tonight; the band members are showing up; the lights and sound system are being set up…and the class begins. Many of the guys and girls that are there have never done this before. It’s new and fun; even messing up is amusing because you’re trying your best…so you laugh with the other students. When the instructor says, “Rotate!†you suddenly find yourself each time with a new girl to try out the new moves on. In no other environment have you been so close to the opposite gender. Everyone is having a great time.
Once the lights turn off and the music turns up, although the atmosphere has seemingly changed, the ladies are still ladies and the men are still men. For some reason people gain a lot of confidence when the lights go out; clubs definitely create a mood conducive for people to meet much easier too. Although this is true, you must be cool about it. Latin dancing is sexy; her stylish and sexy moves are part of the dance; not invitations for you to make a move on her. Girls complain to me about this. Guys sometimes view them like prospects, not girls they actually want to dance with. It can ruin that portion of a girl’s night when a guy acts like an idiot and not a real man. Be kind to her. If you are truly interested, still, you must take things slowly; just like learning how to dance, it takes time.
The night should be conducted the same as the night out at the restaurant: The ambience is very nice; all the details have already been taken care of; the night is yours to enjoy. The girls love dancing and being asked to dance. They are willing to allow any man who asks them the opportunity; just treat her nice, be a gentleman. If she encourages you to pursue her further, follow her lead, but do not think for a moment you are being charming when your advances make her uncomfortable. Think of the night as a romantic interlude. The food is the music and the club is the restaurant; enjoy your time with the ladies and make every effort to be your best.
